Holmdel Police Officer Honored For Impaired Driving Enforcement
Holmdel Patrolman Matthew Menosky was honored recently for his enforcement of impaired drivers.

HOLMDEL, NJ - Patrolman Matthew Menosky recently was presented with the 2017 Kimberly Smith-Ames DWI Prevention Award at the Monmouth and Ocean County Traffic Association Luncheon.
Menosky is one of the department's drug recognition experts and has conducted 20 evaluations on impaired drivers this year and has made 28 Driving While Intoxicated arrests.
Menosky participates in the department's Sudden Impact program at Holmdel High School and teaches the effects of drugs and alcohol on the human body to the Holmdel Police and First Aid Explorers.
The Kimberly Smith-Ames DWI Prevention Award is given annually to increase public awareness of the commitment and determination demonstrated by law enforcement toward the education and prevention of Driving While Intoxicated offenses and acknowledging officers who have demonstrated such commitment to this issue.
The award was created to honor the life and memory of Kimberly Smith-Ames by her parents, Ed and Carol Smith. On Oct. 7, 1998, a drunken driver in Beachwood killed the 23-year-old Smith-Ames and her unborn child.
The selected police officer receives a $200 gift certificate to a police equipment retailer while other nominated officers receive a certificate of recognition for his or her efforts.
