Holmdel Resident, Korean War Veteran Dies at 80

Arthur O'Mahoney was a forklift operator for Schultz and Sons for 45 years.

Arthur O’Mahoney, 80, of Holmdel died Tuesday at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.  Born in Newark, he resided there, moving to Keyport for 11 years and then Holmdel in 2009. He was a forklift operator for Schultz and Sons, Union, for 45 years, retiring in 2000.  He was a communicant of Jesus the Lord Church, Keyport.  He served his country in the Army during the Korean War.

Arthur was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rose Waters O’Mahoney; a stepdaughter, Carol Ryan and his parents, Jeremiah and Margaret O’Mahoney. He is survived by a loving daughter, Linda Sprague and her husband Gerard of Holmdel; a sister, Anna Pols of MA; five cherished grandchildren, Kristy, Lauren, Kathleen, Daniel and Patrick; and seven cherished great grandchildren, Kasey, Marc Jr., Siobhan, Krystal, James, Daniel Jr. and Matthew.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Saturday at 8 a.m. at the funeral home, with a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Jesus the Lord Church, Keyport.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.  To post an online condolence to the family or for directions to the funeral home, please visit www.dayfuneralhome.com.
