Laurel Avenue Bridge Repairs Begin Aug. 5

Expect heavy delays around the Laurel Avenue bridge throughout August and September, and try to avoid the area if possible.

Holmdel, NJ - Starting Friday, August 5, repairs will begin on the infamous Laurel Avenue bridge, which carries the North Jersey Coast train tracks over Laurel Avenue (County Road 52) in Holmdel. The project is scheduled to last approximately two months and Laurel Avenue around the bridge will be closed to traffic for that entire time.

Drivers, expect heavy delays around the Laurel Avenue bridge throughout August and September, and try to avoid the area if possible, Holmdel police warn. The low-hanging Laurel Avenue bridge has caused several accidents in the past after trucks got stuck underneath it, including this one in March of this year, and this one in 2013.

This project will have a major impact on vehicles that travel on Laurel Avenue attempting to gain access to Rt. 35 and the Garden State Parkway, Holmdel police said. Laurel Avenue road closures include cars traveling southbound towards Holland Road and Garden State Parkway Exit 114, and all vehicles traveling northbound towards Rt. 35. The closure includes emergency vehicles as well.
