Laurel Avenue May Open Sooner Than Expected

Monmouth County predicted an early Sept. re-opening, and the roadway was only shut down last week.

Holmdel, NJ - Laurel Avenue may be opening back up again sooner than expected.

South Laurel Avenue will likely open again in early September, Monmouth County announced Thursday afternoon. That's earlier than NJ Transit's initial timeline, which said Laurel Ave. would be closed for a 2-3 month period. The road was shut down last week so NJ Transit could make bridge repairs.

Laurel Ave. has been closed from Rt. 35 to Holland Road, and traffic from Holmdel, Hazlet and Middletown has been affected.
