Laurel Avenue to Reopen Monday Night at 8 p.m.

The repairs have been completed ahead of schedule, and far earlier than the 2-3 month shutdown NJ Transit originally predicted.

Holmdel, NJ - Laurel Avenue at the railroad bridge in Holmdel is scheduled to open again to all traffic at 8 p.m. Monday night, Aug. 29, Hazlet police announced late Monday afternoon.

Repairs are complete, the police said. The repairs have been completed ahead of schedule, and far earlier than the 2-3 month shutdown NJ Transit originally predicted. Laurel Avenue was closed the week of Aug. 8 and NJ Transit originally predicted the well-used roadway would be out for 2-3 months. However, Monmouth County made the surprise announcement last week it would open earlier than expected. A young man died last week after he got into a motorcycle crash at the railroad bridge after being pursued by Holmdel police.
