HOLMDEL, NJ - Barbara A. Metzger, 50, of the township, died Sunday at home. Born in Brooklyn NY, she lived in Atlantic Highlands and Bradley Beach before moving to Holmdel 25 years ago. She was graduated from Monmuth University, West Long Branch and had recently begun a new career as a marketing assistant with First Capital Advisor's Group, according to her obituary, which is posted on the website of the Holmdel Funeral Home where friends can leave condolences or share a favorite memory.

She kept busy by exercising, including running and kickboxing. But she had her quiet time, sitting on the beach and reading a good book. Her home was decorated to celebrate each season but it wasn't just for appearance. She loved cooking and baking, especially gingerbread cookies around the holidays. She loved to laugh at the silly things in life and was very nurturing and caring to those around her.

Her pride and love extended to her children, Matthew and Morgan and her two cats, Joey and Chloe. She was predeceased by her father, William Hawksby and her brother, William. Surviving are her children, her mother Ann Marie Hawksby; her beloved former husband Gregory Metzger; her nieces Jessica Hawksby and Jennifer Metzger and many other friends and family members.
