Metallica To Stream Drive-In Concert At Bell Works This Month

Each ticket to the show – which admits a car with up to 6 individuals – comes with 4 digital download links to the rockers' new album.

HOLMDEL, NJ – Legendary heavy metal band Metallica will be hitting the drive-in this month, with a stop at none other than Holmdel’s Bell Works drive-in cinema.

While a live performance of the rockers in concert will be pre-recorded at a “top-secret” location, the exclusive show from the hitmakers will be streamed at the Bell Works drive-in cinema “pop up” in Holmdel on Aug. 29. The taping will mark Metallica’s first live show since September.

“What you will hear and see on the screen will be edited and mixed together by our top-notch production team for a kickass final product,” said drummer Lars Ulrich in a video announcing the show:

Metallica will be the first rock band to be featured in the new Encore Drive-In Nights concert series. Bell Works previously screened a Blake Shelton performance as part of the Encore series on July 25.

Although hundreds of drive-ins across the country will be screening the concert, Bell Works serves as the only location in New Jersey currently offering the socially-distant concert experience.

Each ticket to the show – which admits one car with up to six individuals – comes with four digital download links to the rockers’ new album “S&M2”. Although the newest release touts Metallica with backing from the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the drive-in show will showcase a traditional Metallica four-piece set.

Alt-rockers Three Days Grace will also appear as part of the filmed presentation as an opening act.

“Needless to say, this is an exciting first for us, as we continue to explore new ways to connect with you and keep playing live,” the band wrote in a statement on their website. “This definitely qualifies as a unique and memorable experience for us. We hope you think so too!”

Presale for the drive-in concert movie begins at 12 p.m. on Aug. 12. The link to purchase can be found here.
