Monmouth County Parks To Hold 'Quest For Fire' Event
Making fire is so easy a caveman could do it-- learn how here!
MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ-- Smokey the Bear has warned us against fires in parks for years, but the Monmouth County Parks System wants to teach you about fire safely within their parks.
Quest For Fire will look at making fire from an anthropological perspective, and will include fire making demonstrations. Instead of matches or lighters, and instructor will demonstrate fire making methods such as bamboo friction fire, bow and drill, pump drill, piston fire, flint and steel and discuss how they’ve changed over time.
There will be sessions on Oct. 23 and Oct. 30, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Oak Point Picnic Shelter at Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold.
