Over 200 In Hazlet Still Without Power Amid Severe Storm Tuesday
Following severe thunderstorms Tuesday night, over 200 households were still left in the dark in Hazlet on Wednesday morning.
HAZLET, NJ -More than 54,700 households across New Jersey were without electricity as Tuesday night's storms passed through the Garden State, bringing with it damaging wind, lightning, thunder and heavy rain. Thousands of JCP&L customers across Monmouth County were also left in the dark, with utility provider JCP&L expecting power to be restored late Tuesday night.
However, as of as of 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, 3,521 households were still left without power in Monmouth County - including over 200 in Hazlet.
"Crews have responded and assessed the damage and expect to have all repairs complete by 3 p.m. today," Hazlet Township wrote in a municipal alert, noting that lightning from the storm damaged JCP&L equipment in the region. "As is always the case after a storm, trees continue to impact utility equipment and more damage is possible."
