More Storms, Possible Coastal Flooding In Tuesday Forecast For NJ

Another hazardous weather outlook has been issued Tuesday with predictions like thunderstorms and coastal flooding. Here's what to expect.

NEW JERSEY - Severe weather may affect New Jersey yet again on Tuesday, following a period of extreme weather that hit the state Monday. Forecasters say there’s a chance of thunderstorms, wind gusts and excessive rainfall to come later in the day through the evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook in 16 New Jersey counties effective until Tuesday night.

“Expect more showers and thunderstorms later today, however we shouldn't see quiet [sic] as much potential for severe weather,” the National Weather Service tweeted Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service noted Tuesday that minor coastal flooding is possible on the southern tip of the state - especially in Cape May and Cumberland counties - and in coastal parts of Delaware through Thursday. Spotty minor rip currents and marine hazards are also a possibility.

Showers can be expected throughout the day between noon and 4 p.m. with high levels of humidity, according to AccuWeather. Temperatures should hover around the low-70s and drop into the mid-60s by the evening.

And for those looking forward to sunny weather again, the wait is almost over. Wednesday's forecast consists of clear skies with slight breezes and temperatures approaching 70.

Today: Showers, mainly after noon. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 71. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tonight: A chance of showers before 9 p.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 56. Northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 68. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: Clear, with a low around 59. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
