More Storms Threaten NJ As Tropical Storm Moves Through
More severe weather is expected to hit New Jersey this weekend, even as Tropical Storm Elsa departs the region. Here's what to expect.
JERSEY SHORE — The remnants of Tropical Storm Elsa are expected to hit New Jersey this weekend, bringing scattered thunderstorms throughout the Garden State through Friday evening and possibly beyond, forecasters say.
Friday will see scattered showers and possible thunderstorms in between periods of sun through the evening, with some storms capable of producing strong gusts, rough maritime conditions and small hail.
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for both Monmouth and Ocean counties as "several instances of flooding" are still possible according to the National Weather Service, especially in urban and poor-drainage areas and near vulnerable small creeks and streams.

But if you're planning on taking a post-storm dip at the beach on Friday, be warned: high rip currents associated with Tropical Storm Elsa remain a risk until Friday evening.

"Entering the surf is discouraged. If caught in a rip current, relax and float," the National Weather Service said in a statement. "Do not swim against the current. If possible, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help."
