Obituary: William Truex, Retired Police Sergeant

A retired Holmdel police officer - the fourth officer to join the police force -- has died.

Holmdel police announced the death of 81-year-old retired sergeant, William Truex, on their Facebook page.

Truex joined the Holmdel Police Department in 1966 as the department’s fourth officer. After 26 years on the force, he retired in 1992, police said.

He moved to Tennessee. Truex died on Oct. 8, according to the Tennessean.

Services have not yet been announced.
