Around 3:45 p.m., a passerby heard the kitten meowing and realized the noise was coming from a storm drain at the corner of Bristol and Hylan roads, according to Thursday’s post on the Holmdel Fire & Rescue Company #2 Facebook page.

Lt. Dave Farrell confirmed that the cat was stuck in the storm drain and a crew responded.
They removed the grate, and Capt. Joe Abate rescued the kitten.

A resident in that neighborhood has adopted the cat, firefighters said in a later Facebook post.
