FREEHOLD, NJ - A physical fight originally reported as an active shooter situation temporarily closed the amusement center Sunday, authorities said.

“I would just like to clarify and dispel some false information circulating on other Facebook pages. The Freehold Township Police Department responded to the iPlay America business last night for what was originally reported as an active shooter situation,” Chief George K. Baumann wrote in a statement Monday morning. “Officers responded to the scene and took appropriate steps to safeguard life and property.”

A subsequent investigation “involving multiple outside agencies” found that the incident involved a large physical fight and lacked any evidence of guns or other weapon involvement, Baumann said.
