Satz School Pupils In Holmdel Get "Scrooged"
An annual tradition going back three decades, Satz teacher Michael Ferraro dresses up as Ebenzer Scrooge, reciting lines from the classic.

HOLMDEL, NJ - For more than 30 years, the students at the William R. Satz School have experienced classic literature in real time as English teacher Michael Ferraro dresses as the key character from A Christmas Carol, roaming the halls, performing lines from the novel.
Ferraro, a Dickens scholar, has traveled to England to visit the author's haunts and the settings of his stories. When the Satz school adopted the classic piece of Dickensian literature into its curriculum long ago, it was only natural that Ferraro would combine his love of the author's work with his flair for the dramatic!
Each year, the students are delighted to have the famous curmudgeon appear in their classrooms, proclaiming the classic line, "If I had my way, every idiot who goes about with 'Merry Christmas' on his lips would be boiled in his own pudding and buried with a stake of holly in his heart!"
This year, Ferraro was joined by the Spirit of Christmas Present, portrayed by English teacher Steve Tetreault. The pair visited classrooms and performed portions of the scene in which Scrooge first meets the jolly spirit, as well as the moment when Scrooge realizes his miserly ways may lead to the death of Tiny Tim.
According to a release from the school, students were startled but ultimately delighted when they were visited by Scrooge and his favorite spirit.
