Scholarship Opportunity for Students Interested in Pursuing Equine Activities

The application is due Jan. 2.

The New Jersey Equine Advisory Board is looking to help 4-H and FFA members pursue equine activities with a $1,000 scholarship.

The Sarah Dubnin Scholarship, in memory of a young girl who loved horses, will be awarded at a luncheon on Jan. 26 to a NJ applicant between the ages of 13 and 16.

Dubnin, a Sayreville resident, graduated from Cardinal McCarrick High School in South Amboy in 2006.  The 19-year-old was attending Middlesex County College when she died after a motor vehicle accident in 2007.

Applicants for the scholarship must submit an essay by Jan. 2 answering the question, “How horses have affected my life and how horses figure into my future.”  The application can be found online.
