Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Monmouth County Tuesday

The National Weather Service reports that a Tuesday afternoon storm could damage roofs, siding, trees and power lines.

MONMOUTH COUNTY – The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a severe thunderstorm warning in Central Jersey for Tuesday afternoon.

The warning includes eastern Monmouth County, including the municipalities of Asbury Park, Tinton Falls and Long Branch. The warning will be in effect until 3:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

At approximately 2:45 p.m., the National Weather Service reported a ‘severe thunderstorm’ over Tinton Falls moving northeast at 25 mph with 60 mph wind gusts.

The agency reports that damage to roofs, siding, trees and power lines is possible.

Major roadways could be impacted, including Interstate 195 in New Jersey between mile markers 31 and 34 and the Garden State Parkway between mile markers 97 and 116.

"Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding," wrote the National Weather Service in a statement on Tuesday afternoon. "Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways."
