Unlocked Vehicle Entered On Holmdel Road In Hazlet, PD Warns
Hazlet police are warning residents to lock their vehicles following a July 5 incident of a subject entering a car on a Holmdel Rd driveway.
HAZLET, NJ - Hazlet police are warning residents to lock their vehicles following a July 5 incident of a subject entering an unlocked car - and attempting to enter at least one other vehicle - on a Holmdel Road driveway.
At around 4:30 a.m. on July 5, a hooded subject was caught on a Ring camera entering a four-door sedan. The subject also attempted to enter an SUV on the same property, but was unsuccessful in doing so.

“Luckily this resident was wise enough to take their keys inside and avoided becoming a victim of vehicle theft,” the Hazlet Township Police Department wrote in a statement. “This entire crime happened within 30 seconds. Don't be an easy target, we strongly urge all residents to LOCK YOUR CARS and TAKE YOUR KEYS anytime you leave your vehicle parked anywhere. Also take note of the vehicles sitting in the roadway waiting for the subject to return.”
