Weekend Car Theft Attempt Reported In Holmdel: Cops

Police are warning residents to lock their vehicles after an unlocked Mercedes G-Wagon was entered over the weekend.

HOLMDEL, NJ - Local law enforcement are warning residents to lock their vehicles after an unlocked Mercedes G-Wagon was entered - but not stolen - over the weekend.

In a Monday afternoon Facebook post, the Holmdel Township Police Department noted that the unlocked vehicle on Bucks Mill Lane was not stolen as its fob was not in the car at the time.

There was also a Ferrari parked in the street in front of the residence where there was also an attempt at entry, but that car was locked, police said.

“There is a stolen vehicle ring working in the Monmouth County area. As this incident confirms, you can prevent your cars from being stolen, or vandalized, by keeping them locked and bringing your keys and/or key-fob into your house,” Holmdel police said. “These suspects have ONLY stolen cars that were unlocked, with the key-fobs inside.”
