World War II Veteran, of Hazlet, Dies at 86
The Hazlet resident served in the Navy during World War II.

Robert Madsen, 86, of Hazlet, passed away, Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel.  Born in Perth Amboy, he resided there before moving to Hazlet.  He worked for Tenneco, Edison, as a technical supervisor, for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He served his country in the Navy during World War II.Â
Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan Polacastro Madsen; and his many brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving children, Bonita Renee Dow and husband Robert of Hazlet; and Heather Ballard of Woodbridge; his cherished grandchildren, Tara DeSantis and husband Thomas; Robert Dow, Jr.; Brian, Jason and Jessie Ballard; and three precious great grandchildren, Tyler and Kayla DeSantis and Robert Dow, III. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.Â
At the direction of the family, cremation is private. Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735 was entrusted with the arrangements. Â
