6-Vehicle Crash On Route 9 Causes Multiple Injuries: Howell PD

The crash was a result of a pair of rear-end collisions; one driver will be receiving summonses as a result, police said.

HOWELL, NJ — Several people were injured in a six-vehicle chain reaction crash on Route 9 in Howell on Tuesday, police said.

Police did not give specifics on the injuries, but said several of the injured were taken to hospitals for treatment.

The crash on northbound Route 9 near Twin Pond Farms started when a 55-year-old Howell woman, who was driving a 2016 Jeep Cherokee, rear-ended a 2014 Hyundai Elantra. That caused the Elantra to run off the road onto the property at Twin Pond Farms, causing damage to the business, police said.

The Jeep kept going and hit the rear of a 2014 Nissan Sentra, setting off a chain reaction involving a 2018 Mazda CX-5, a 2006 Volvo V50, and a 2017 Nissan Rogue, all of which were stopped at a red light.

Howell Police EMS, Howell First Aid, Freehold First Aid, Quality Care EMS and MONOC paramedics responded and transported multiple parties to the hospital for various injuries, police said.

All six vehicles were towed from the scene by Jerry’s Towing and summonses are being issued to the operator of the Jeep.

The crash was investigated by Ptl. Kyle Bush and Ptl. Daniel Scherbinski of the Traffic Safety Unit.
