All Shore Intermediate Band to Perform Annual Concert
Local middle school honors band scheduled to perform at the Michael T. Lake Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, February 6th
The All Shore Intermediate Band will present its 60th annual concert on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the Michael T. Lake Performing Arts Center, starting at 7:30 p.m.
All Shore Intermediate Band is an honors band, founded in 1958, that is comprised of the finest middle school musicians from Monmouth and Northern Ocean Counties. Members are chosen by audition in November and rehearse during the winter months in preparation for their concert. This year's All Shore Intermediate Band is co-conducted by directors Mr. Dan Carver of Memorial Middle School, Point Pleasant, and Mr. Dan Crawford of Clifton T. Barkalow Middle School, Freehold.
“All Shore has been a dream these past three years,” writes euphonium player Mallory Pritchet, from Lake Riviera Middle School in Brick. “I’ve grown so much as a musician because of this ensemble.”

“I enjoy All Shore because I get the opportunity to meet new people and learn new things,” states Olivia Raguseo, a bassoonist from Barkalow Middle School, Freehold. “I try a lot harder music than I normally do in my school band and I get the opportunity to play a lot of different parts that I don’t normally play.”
“It’s a great social experience,” chimes in Chukwudubem Echezona, trombonist from Howell Middle School North. “You get to make a lot of new friends from other schools that you probably wouldn’t meet otherwise,” says mallet player Taylor Bruno, Maple Place Middle School, Oceanport.

“I love watching our young musicians new friends and discover music beyond their own school programs,” writes Jeff Canter, President of the All Shore Intermediate Band Directors’ Association. “It’s invigorating and encouraging for the involved Band Directors as well as for the students.”
Perhaps Ms. Pritchet echoes the sentiments of many of her fellow musicians: “Sometimes it’s easy to forget how much you love doing something, but any time I am here, I am reminded why I love this so much and why I want to do this forever.”
The All Shore Intermediate Band Directors’ Association is comprised of twenty-eight band directors representing nineteen school districts, including: Brick, Colts Neck, The Diocese of Trenton, Freehold, Henry Hudson, Howell, Jackson, Little Silver, Manasquan, Marlboro, Matawan, Middletown, Millstone, Neptune, Oceanport, Ocean Township, Point Pleasant Borough, Roosevelt, and Wall. Student musicians in these districts who are members of their middle school bands are eligible for All Shore and should consult their school band directors for audition, as well as check out the website www.shoreintermediateband.com for more information.
