Arrest Made In Hit-And-Run That Killed Howell Man

A bus driver has been arrested in the November hit-and-run accident at Newark Liberty International Airport that killed a Howell man, authorities said.

Fidel Ortez, 47, of West New York, was been charged with second egree leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and third degree endangering an injured victim, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

Jeffrey Ziesler, 61, of Howell, was struck by a bus in the long-term parking lot at the airport on Nov. 12, around 4 a.m., prosecutors say.

The indictment says Ortez failed to stop and render assistance to Zeisler, according to a release.

Ortez was arrested at his place of employment on Friday. He was released after posting $50,000 bail, the release says.
