Famed Italian Ice Chain Is Coming To Howell's Friendship Plaza
Located next to Staples and Hobby Lobby, a new Rita's storefront is slated to open in Howell just in time for summer.
HOWELL, NJ - A new storefront specializing in frozen treats is on its way to Howell, just in time for summer.
Located at 4502 Route 9 South in the Friendship Plaza next to Staples, a new Rita’s storefront is expected to open later this year. It will occupy the former Sun National Bank.
Rita’s is a Pennsylvania-based frozen ice chain that has been serving Italian ices, gelati and frozen custards to families since 1984. It currently touts over two dozen locations in New Jersey, including sites in Brick, Eatontown, Union Beach, Lakewood and Toms River.

A former Rita’s location occupied a space several years ago at 2233 US Highway 9 in what is now a converted Pizza Hut.
A notice on the Rita's website and the Friendship Plaza website says that the location is “coming soon.” An exact opening date has yet to be determined. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Patch.
