PotterCon In Asbury Park Promises Adults '4,224 Pages Worth Of Fun'

Breaking: Celebrate every aspect of your Harry Potter adoration Saturday.

ASBURY PARK, NJ — Pull out your Quidditch sticks, your Butterbeer tankards and dust off your robes: PotterCon is coming to Asbury Park, and organizers promise a full day of fun for adult Harry Potter-obsessed fans.

PotterCon began in 2016 with events in New York City and Memphis, Tennessee, and organizers say nearly 3,500 people attended those two events. The 2017 edition is building on that success, they said; "We're swish-and-flicking our way to bring you bigger-and-better events across the country."

The PotterCon event, set for Saturday, June 10 at Convention Hall in Asbury Park, is specifically geared to adults and includes a Sorting Ceremony — "Are you brave, loyal, witty, or cunning? Throw your name into the Goblet of Fire to find out." — a costume contest, a trivia contest, the House Cup and more.

The costume contest, Madam Malkin's Robes For All Occasions Fashion Show, costs $5 to enter and the money goes to a chapter of 826, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6-18 with their creative and expository writing skills.

For the trivia contest, they urge participants to "gather a team of up to six wizards to compete to win a Potter Prize Pack, and remember that no cell phones or enchanted quills are allowed. If we see you cheating, our prefects will not hesitate to give you detention in the Forbidden Forest (without refund!)."
