Howell Adopt-A-Family Program Underway For 2017

If your family needs help, you have until Thursday to get on the list. If you want to help, you can pick a family or buy gift cards.

HOWELL, NJ — The Christmas holidays are still more than a month away, but Howell Township officials are beginning their efforts to help the township's less-fortunate families through its Adopt-A-Family program.

If your family could use a hand this holiday season, get on the list by filling out the form and turning it in to township officials. Click here for the form. It must be turned in at the Howell Township Municipal Building, 4567 Route 9 North, Howell, by Thursday, Nov. 16.

If you would like to help a Howell family in need this holiday season, Howell officials welcome your kindness.

"Our goal is to assign each volunteer sponsor an 'adopted' family in Howell to give that family’s children a brighter holiday," officials said. "To assist us in accomplishing this goal, several local businesses, neighborhoods, residents and nonprofit organizations and groups will be involved in this effort. However, we still need your support."

Those wishing to help families can do any of the following:

  • Call the township offices at 732-938-4500, ext. 2102, to sign up to sponsor a Howell family.
  • Purchase gift cards in any increment, from places such as Walmart, Target, Five Below, Kohl’s, Applebee’s, movie tickets, or Visa cards.
  • Organize a neighborhood, office and/or store collection for families.

Gifts that are purchased (or gift cards) can be dropped off

The gift dropoff dates are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8. Gifts must be unwrapped. Drop them off at the Howell Township Municipal Building.

The Give-Away dates and times are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, also at the township municipal building.
