HOWELL, NJ – July 4th is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you this Independence Day.

We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening around Howell so you can start planning now.

What: Freehold Independence Day Concert and Fireworks

Where: Freehold Raceway, 130 Park Ave., Freehold

When: Wednesday, July 3

Gates will open at 6 p.m., and there will be live music from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with fireworks at dusk. It's part of the 100.1 Days of Summer at 'JRZ with Lisa Anderson. Food and beverage will be available for purchase. Bring your own chairs and blankets to enjoy the fireworks.

The rain date is Sunday, July 7.

What: Freehold Borough Reading of the Declaration of Independence

Where: On the steps at Borough Hall, 51 West Main St.

When: Thursday, July 4 at 9 a.m.

Arrive between 8 and 8:30 a.m. if you would like to read part of the Declaration of Independence to honor the birth of the United States.

What: Oceanfest

Where: Ocean Promenade, Long Branch

When: Thursday, July 4

The family-friendly event

will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. It features food vendors, crafters, entertainers, dancers, sand sculptures and a spectacular fireworks display. Fireworks start at 9 p.m.

What: SummerFest

Where: Windward Beach Park

When: Thursday, July 4, 6 p.m.

The SummerFest concert series marks its 25th season in Brick and kicks off on the Fourth of July with a performance of 1980s hits by Jessie's Girl. The concert will be followed by fireworks. There will be a food court and a beer and wine garden for guests ages 21 and over.

Free shuttle buses will be available from 5 p.m. from the following locations: Brick Township High School, Drum Point Elementary School, Veterans Memorial Middle School, Midstreams Elementary School and Brick Memorial High School. (Brick Memorial will be a shuttle location for the July 4th event only.) The last bus to Windward Beach departs at 8 p.m.; return trips begin at 9 p.m.
