Regina McAllen among 217 quarter finalists for national music teacher award
A Howell High School music teacher is among 17 New Jersey teachers eligible to a national award from The Recording Academy.
Regina McAllen is among 217 quarterfinalists nationwide, chosen from among 30,000 nominations from all 50 states for the Music Educator Award, which seeks to highlight the accomplishments and impact of a single music teacher.
The award will be given during GRAMMY week later this year to the teacher who has made a lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrates a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools, according to a release.

Ten finalists will be chosen in August. The winner will be flown to Los Angeles to accept the award, attend the GRAMMY Awards ceremony, and receive a $10,000 honorarium. The nine finalists will receive a $1,000 honorarium, and the schools of all 10 finalists also will receive matching grants, the release says.
