Howell Offers Free Rabies Shot Clinic For 2020

You also can pay to have your pet microchipped and purchase your 2020 dog licenses at the clinic.

HOWELL, NJ — If you need to update your pet's rabies vaccination before getting it licensed for 2020, Howell Township will be holding a free rabies clinic on Feb. 1.

The clinic runs from 9 a.m. to noon at the Howell Public Works Garage, 278 Old Tavern Road.

Bring proof of previous vaccination records. All dogs must be on a leash.

In addition to the free rabies shots, the clinic also will offer the opportunity to license your pet, and get it microchipped as well.

Microchipping and distemper shots will be offered by staff from the Associated Humane Societies. Microchipping costs $30 per pet, and distemper shots are $20; both are cash only.

Howell residents needing to license their dogs or cats can do that on site at the clinic. Licenses must be purchased by Feb. 15.

Licenses can be purchased in person at the Township Clerk's office, 4567 Route 9 North, or by mail, using this form for dogs and this form for cats.

To obtain a license:

  • Fill out the form or forms
  • Mail or bring a valid rabies certificate valid through 12/01/2020 (unless shot was for one year)
  • Mail or bring spay/neuter certificate
  • Include a check payable to Howell Township (All payments are non-refundable).

Pet owners who buy the licenses at the rabies clinic must pay cash.

License fees are:

  • Spayed/neutered dog with certificate, $14
  • Dog not spayed/ neutered $17
  • Spayed/neutered cat with certificate $4
  • Cat not spayed/ neutered $6
