Howell Twp Council Aims To Preserve 30 Acres On Fort Plains Road
A proposed ordinance will preserve a 30-acre property as open space. The land is currently owned by United Talmudical Academy.

HOWELL, NJ – Members of the Howell Township Council recently proposed an ordinance that, if adopted, will preserve a 30-acre Fort Plains Road property as open space.
At the Aug. 11 meeting, Councilman Thomas Russo introduced the ordinance with Mayor Theresa Berger, Deputy Mayor Evelyn O’Donnell and Councilwoman Pamela Richmond all voting "yes" on the motion to introduce the proposed ordinance.
The council will be looking to purchase the 30-acre property from the United Talmudical Academy for $1.06 million. The funds to purchase are available through Howell’s Open Space and Recreation Trust Fund, according to council documents.

A maximum of $14,000 will be included in the total budget for engineering costs, legal fees and other expenses and improvements.
A public hearing is set for Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Township Municipal Building. Following public comments, the council may vote to adopt the ordinance.
