Howell Schools, Courts Closed Friday Due To Blizzard

Thursday's scheduled Planning Board meeting has been canceled as well, township officials said.

HOWELL, NJ — Schools in the Howell area will be closed for a second day on Friday due to the ongoing impact of the blizzard.

Howell had received 14 inches of snow as of about 2:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service Mount Holly office. Conditions were worsening in the afternoon and the blizzard warning was not expected to be lifted until 7 p.m., the service said.

In addition, the scheduled meeting Thursday night of the township Planning Board and Friday's scheduled municipal court session have been canceled, township officials said.

Though state, Monmouth County and Howell Township crews are out working to clear the roads, school officials are anticipating the cleanup will take longer than anticipated, making opening for school on Friday a challenge.

The Howell Public Schools, St. Veronica school and the Freehold Regional High School District announced the second day of closures Thursday afternoon.
