HOWELL, NJ - After a silent 14 months, the Howell Senior Center is finally ready to reopen its doors to the community following the coronavirus pandemic.
On May 26, the Preventorium Road location will reopen at limited capacity. In what has been deemed a “slow opening” per a municipal announcement, members will be able to enjoy the new outdoor patio or sit inside. Lunch will not be served at the present time but members are welcome to bring their own food and drinks.

Members are required to call the center and let staff know what days they will be attending so that capacity limit requirements can be maintained. Face masks are required to be worn over the nose and mouth inside both the building and on the bus.
Specific areas of Howell will be designated for pickup on specific days due to staffing issues and the lack of SCAT transportation availability. Residents can call (732) 938-4500 ext. 2550 starting May 17 to register for transportation to the center.

“As a reminder, we all need to be flexible as we open because we will have to see what plan work best for transportation and registration,” the senior center wrote in a reopening announcement. “For anyone that drives or can obtain alternate transportation to the center, we ask that you do so that those who require the bus also have the opportunity to come in.”
Residents who wake up not feeling well are asked to call to cancel their appointment and stay home. Those who arrive to the senior center or bus and appear ill will have to stay home or be brought home.
“We will be cleaning the center/buses on a daily basis to ensure everyone’s safety and wellbeing,” the center wrote. “As a reminder, our reopening plan and attendance is subject to change based on the Governor’s Executive Order applicable at the time.”
