Longtime Howell Pop Warner, Basketball Club Coach Dies at 50

Robert Scott Handy, 50, of Howell Township died at home on Sunday. Bob was born in Queens, NY and raised in South River before settling in Howell in 1991. He was a self-employed auto broker and a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale. He was a longtime coach for Howell Pop Warner and Howell Basketball Club. His whole life was devoted to his children and he enjoyed nothing more than participating in his childrens’ lives. 

Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Handy of Howell; four children, Robert, Ryan, Hayley and Patrick; his mother, Maureen Handy of South River; three brothers, Michael Handy of Morristown, Steven Handy of Marlboro, and Brian Handy of Parlin; one sister, Patty Walsh of South River; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. for the procession to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale for his 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass.
