Mediation Ordered In Alleged Parent Attack On Hockey Referees In Howell: Report
Civilian complaints of simple assault were filed by both the referees and parents in the February incident.

HOWELL, NJ -- A mediation session is scheduled for Monday for parents and referees who were involved in an alleged postgame hockey fight earlier this year, according to a report.
NJ1015.com reported that a Howell Municipal Court judge ordered the case to mediation.
David Brown of Brick and Sal Bianco allege two parents came into their locker room and physically assaulted them following a game between Manalapan and Howell high schools on Feb. 7 at Howell Ice World. Brown and Bianco filed simple assault charges against the parents as civilians when Howell police determined the incident did not rise to the level where they could file charges.

The parents, who have also filed simple assault charges in the matter, deny any attack on the referees and claim Brown was using obscene language toward players and a mother during the game, according to NJ1015.com.
“We’ll go in and sit down with the mediator, and if we can’t seem to work things out, that’s the end of it and then it’s referred back to court,” attorney Richard Lomurro, who represents Brown, told NJ1015.com.
