New Howell Sports Bar, Arooga’s, Sets Opening Date

HOWELL, NJ - A new 6,000-square-foot sports bar is about to touch down in Howell, complete with wings, 40 draft beer selections and nearly 100 televisions to watch virtually every game live.

Pennsylvania-based Arooga's Grille House & Sports Bar is slated to open a Route 9 location on Halloween, its first in Monmouth County, according to the Asbury Park Press.

An invite-only grand opening ceremony will be held later in the evening. The restaurant's hours will be noon to midnight (or later) daily.

A representative from the restaurant chain was not immediately available for additional comment on Thursday.

The new Howell dive will sit in the former Ruby Tuesday location in the Lanes Mill Crossing shopping center, per the Press. The bar and grill has other locations in New Jersey, including East Brunswick and North Plainfield.

The restaurant chain, which is named after the horn sound of a Ford Model T, was delayed from an inital April 1 opening date due to the ongoing pandemic.The franchisee of the new location has a multi-unit agreement with Arooga’s for a minimum of six locations in the Monmouth, Middlesex and Ocean County areas, the company told the Press.

Although there isn’t space for outdoor seating, customers will be able to place to-go orders for contact-free pick-up or delivery. A fast-casual dining area will be located separately from the bar. Alongside traditional wings and hand-breaded mozzarella sticks, the Arooga’s menu will feature pretzels and plant-based items.
