The Ocean County College/MONOC Paramedic Program is one of four in New Jersey, the news release said. Of those four, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs accredits two programs. As of Jan. 1, programs without this accreditation are not allowed to send graduates to the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians test, which is necessary to work as a paramedic in New Jersey.
MONOC was founded in 1987 with the mission of improving health care and reducing costs. MONOC Mobile Health Services is a non-profit hospital cooperative consisting of 15 acute care hospitals located throughout the state. In 2012, there were more than 171,000 requests for service.
