RED BANK, NJ - Students at Red Bank Regional High School in Little Silver will return to an all-virtual schedule beginning Monday amid a report of a new COVID-19 case in the district, school officials said Sunday.

According to an update on the district website penned by Superintendent of Schools Louis Moore, an individual who was present at the school on Dec. 14 and 15 has since tested positive for the coronavirus. As a result, the district will suspend in-person classes on Dec. 21 and 22.

“At the present time, we have identified and informed all known close contacts and the Monmouth County Regional Health Commission,” Moore noted.

The four-year high school, which touts an enrollment of about 1,200 young Red Bank, Shrewsbury and Little Silver residents, resumed an in-person hybrid mode of instruction on Dec. 14.

Earlier this month, Moore announced that, following the holiday break, all instruction will be shifted to "full remote" from Jan. 4 to Jan. 8 to "ensure we have the time to monitor and respond to a possible uptick in cases."

The school also aims to implement voluntary testing available on a weekly basis to all staff and students who are not ill or symptomatic starting Jan. 4.
