St. Veronica's Nixes Annual Festival This Year

For 33 years, the Catholic parish just off Route 9 has held a festival attracting thousands, but this year the budget is simply too tight to pull it off and the St. Veronica Parish Festival will not be held this summer, parish officials said Monday.

In a post to the St. Veronica Parish Festival Facebook page, parish officials broke the bad news Monday afternoon.

"Although a difficult one, we have as a Parish made the decision that this year we must redirect our fundraising efforts,'' the post reads. "We know that you can understand the ever-increasing demands of time, costs and volunteer labor which impact the profitability of any event."

Parish officials were not immediately available for comment.
