5 Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 15

1. Warmer Wednesday: According to the National Weather Service, today will be cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 50 degrees and a northwest wind between 6 and 8 mph. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 37 degrees and a north wind between 5 and 8 mph.

2. You're Invited: The Fair Haven Centennial Gala will be held on Saturday, March 10 at the Raven and the Peach. According to the fundraiser invitation, there will be food, music and much more. The cost to attend the fundraiser is $55 per person, $100 per couple. There are also different levels of sponsorship available. Reservations are required in advance and space is limited. 3. Centennial Contest: The Borough of Fair Haven is holding a Centennial Contest for students in the borough. Students in the grades 1-3 are encouraged to submit a drawing or painting of a picture that celebrates the theme of “100 great years of Fair Haven”.  Grades 5-6 are asked to submit essays describing why they love Fair Haven and grades 7-8 can submit a visual expression (ie: a video, piece of art, comic strip) that fits the theme. The deadline for submission is February 21 and can be dropped off at the Recreation Office located at . The winners in each category will receive a $100 stimulus check usable at a variety of Fair Haven businesses.

4. Get Hired: Brookdale and its Long Branch satellite want to get you a job this month. On Feb. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the , 213 Broadway, will host its annual free job fair. Click for details about the event.
