Rumson Planning Board Agenda: Cannabis Ordinance, 18-Unit Project
The board will review a measure prohibiting cannabis businesses and a proposal to bring 18 units to Bingham Avenue at its July 12 meeting.
RUMSON, NJ — A measure prohibiting the operation of any class of cannabis business in the borough will go before the Rumson Planning Board on Monday.
The cannabis ordinance was introduced by the borough council at its meeting on June 15, and amends a portion of the borough's development regulations. The proposed measure, which will be reviewed by the planning board to ensure its consistent the borough's development code, would prohibit any class of cannabis business from operating within the borough.
A public hearing on the ordinance is scheduled for the borough council's meeting at 4:30 p.m. on July 13.

The board will also continue its hearing of the Yellow Brook Property Co. application for preliminary and final site plan approval of 18 units at 132 Bingham Ave.
The developer is proposing the demolition of the existing structure on the lot and the construction of a multi-family residential development of 18 total units located in nine duplex buildings. The project is part of a settlement agreement between the borough and Yellow Brook Property Co. as part of the borough's affordable housing plan.

In exchange for the development of the 18 market-rate units at 132 Bingham Ave., and for the development of 16 luxury units at 91 Rumson Ave., Yellow Brook Property Co. is donating property it owns on Carton Street to be dedicated for the development of affordable housing. In addition to the donating the property, Yellow Brook Property Co. also agreed to pay $1.45 million to the borough's Affordable Housing Trust Fund.
