99% Of Rumson JCP&L Customers Out Of Power Tuesday Afternoon
200K customers are without electricity in Monmouth County, according to JCP&L. Over 99 percent of residences are out of power in Rumson.
RUMSON, NJ – As of 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, over 212,200 customers are without electricity in Monmouth County, according to JCP&L. Rumson is one of the hardest hit, with 2,882 (over 99 percent of area customers) left in the dark.

Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency earlier Tuesday morning. State police urge residents to stay home and off the roads unless travel is necessary.

Storm-force winds of 45 to 55 mph with gusts up to 75 mph jolted the area, sweeping tree limbs and outdoor furniture into the streets. Rumson police reported several incidents of downed trees and wires, as well as out-of-service traffic lights.
