CBI Hosts USY Dance for Over 200 Teens
Teens from throughout Central New Jersery came to the fundraiser in Rumson.
(CBI) hosted a regional event where 220 teens came together for dancing, celebration and fundraising.
"It was a big success and a real team effort,” said Susan Alderson, youth director and USY advisor at CBI.
The teens came from towns throughout central New Jersey and all participate in USY, the youth branch of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ) for grades 9 through 12. The teens danced to a DJ and enjoyed a coffee bar/K Café.

The event, held on Saturday, January 14, raised funds for the Tikun Olam Fund of USCJ. The money raised at the event will be allocated to the Conservative movement, charities chosen by the region and scholarships for USY summer programs.
Dassy Mark, Director of the Central New Jersey Region of USY, was in attendance. She explained that USY offers high school students the opportunity to immerse themselves in various Jewish and social activities including conventions, summer encampments, dances, special programs, and an annual basketball league.

As for the Rumson event, she added, “the kids took enormous pride hosting this regional event and did a great job. We know this experience will lead them to being more active and engaged in USY activities.”
Alderson said the events was a great success. "We are already looking forward to hosting more regional events next year."
