COVID-19 Case Reported At Fair Haven School

FAIR HAVEN, NJ - An individual at Knollwood School in Fair Haven recently tested positive for COVID-19, according to Fair Haven Public Schools superintendent Sean McNeil.

In an Oct. 3 virtual letter to Knollwood School families, the case was deemed “present” among the seventh grade Silver Knight Cohort at the school. The superintendent provided an update on Sunday detailing that a “number of students” have since been identified as close contacts of the positive case.

Close contacts were notified via email on Sunday night with further guidance, according to the online message. However, McNeil added that there still may be additional close contacts to be identified through the Monmouth County Health Commission’s review of the case.

The positive case has also resulted in multiple staff members self-quarantining, according to the superintendent. It was not immediately clear how many staff members were affected.

“This is an extremely challenging situation for our district to navigate, and I am incredibly grateful for the professionalism our staff has demonstrated in being as creative as possible in meeting our community’s needs despite the challenges this situation presents.”

The school will resume normal activities on Monday, Oct. 5 with a blended virtual cohort. A regularly-scheduled “deep clean” of the building will take place on Monday. In-person cohort instruction is slated to recommence on Oct. 6.
