Canterbury Fair at St. George’s-by-the-River

A favorite start-of-summer tradition returns on June 11, 2011 when St. George’s-by-the-River hosts its Annual Canterbury Fair, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., rain or shine.

This truly old-fashioned fair appeals to all age groups.  Items for sale include jewelry, sporting goods, plants and flowers, thousands of books for all ages as well as the traditional, highly anticipated White Elephant sale.  Treasures can also be found at the Shabby Chic display.  A fabulous array of items will be up for bid at the Silent Auction tent.  The best bargains at the Jersey Shore will be at the Canterbury Fair that day!

An entire area is dedicated to children’s fun.  There is a petting zoo, clown, balloons, cotton candy, face painting and lots of games where the little ones can win prizes.  The children’s chance auction is a favorite for the “kid set”.  A new addition this year will be gently used children’s clothing and toys.

What fair would be complete without food?  Take your pick depending on your mood: from hamburgers and hotdogs cooked on an open outdoor grill, to the oasis of the Tea Garden for iced tea and delicious baked goods to the outrageously good Lobster Salad Luncheon, there is something for everyone.

All proceeds support local Outreach and Charitable Organizations.
