The at RCDS, which serves low-income students from the area, has just completed its 16th summer, with a record enrollment of 114 children from K-8th grade.
And what a summer it was! The students enjoyed academics, including a specialized reading program, arts, sports, cultural enrichment, swimming lessons, and field trips. All that, plus two meals a day!
For these students, the Horizons program is truly transformative. The program’s high retention rate, 81% of the students return every summer beginning in K through 8th grade, plus the quality of the teachers, negate the achievement gap that so many low-income students experience each summer compared to their middle and high-income peers. Horizon students tend to gain 3 months in reading and math skills each summer! Horizons, hosted by the is such a great program that we want everyone to know about it.
Come find out and celebrate the end of another great summer at the Horizons Gala, an evening of dinner and dancing, Saturday, September 17th, at RCDS.
