There’s a reason why satellite radio plays Rabbi Bob Alper’s comedy bits several times daily -- he's fresh, funny and has a unique background--he is an ordained Rabbi.
The New York Post called him the "Jewish Bill Cosby" and his comedy has been described as fast-paced and sophisticated yet wholesome. On Sunday, May 15, Rabbi Alper is coming to the Two River area. Beginning at 3 pm, he will be performing a 90-minute, non-stop comedy routine at Congregation B'nai Israel in Rumson. Open to adults of all ages and faiths (and children over the age of 11), the event is sure to bring some needed laughter into your life.

Before Rabbi Alper became a full-time comic/part-time Rabbi, he was the first Jewish person ever to earn a doctorate from the Princeton Theological Seminary and served congregations in Buffalo and Philadelphia, where he continues to assist with religious services. He began his comedy career in 1986 when he entered the "Jewish Comic of the Year Contest” in Philadelphia. Television, radio and personal appearances followed and he has appeared on Good Morning America, The Today Show, Showtime, the BBC, and CNN, among many others. Today, Rabbi Alper performs some 80 comedy shows per year, at synagogues, churches and mosques around the world. In addition to his solo shows, Rabbi Alper frequently performs with Muslim comedian Azhar Usman and Baptist Minister Susan Sparks.
If an afternoon of Jewish humor is "just what the doctor ordered", come to Congregation B'nai Israel on May 15. Open to the public, advance tickets are $18 for members and $20 for non-members. Tickets at the door are $22 for members and $25 for non-members.
