Ex-Head Of Rumson-Fair Haven Touchdown Club Charged With Theft

The 57-year-old Rumson man​ is accused of stealing more than $25,000 from the football booster club between April 2017 and July 2018.

RUMSON, NJ — A Rumson man who was the former head of the Rumson-Fair Haven Touchdown Club has been arrested, the Monmouth County prosecutor announced on Thursday.

Sean Greeley, 57, of Rumson, is accused of stealing more than $25,000 from the volunteer organization between April 2017 and July 2018, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni.

The Rumson-Fair Haven Touchdown Club is extremely well-known and active in the area, throwing many parties and fundraisers, including golf outings and Kentucky Derby parties, to support the Rumson-Fair Haven football team.

Greeley was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 30 following an investigation that began in August of 2018, said the prosecutor in a press release.

Detectives allege that Greeley stole over $25,000 from the 501(C) 3 organization for his personal use. As president, Greeley had control of all of the club’s accounts. The theft included unauthorized debit card transactions from the club’s bank account.

Patch first reported that money was missing from the club in August of 2018, after the club posted a message on their website stating that there was an "unauthorized use of funds."

It was after that that the Monmouth County Prosecutor began investigating.

Greeley is charged with one count of third-degree theft. That charge can carry a prison time, if convicted.
