Local Dog Competes in Westminster Kennel Club Show
Show your puppy love by watching him and hundreds of other colorful pups in action on Valentine's Day.
Love dogs? Then take some time this Valentine’s Day to watch a local pup strut his stuff in the 136th annual Westminster Kennel Club (WKC) Dog Show.
very own Champion Cherrywood's Slam Dunk, also known as "Hondo”, will be competing at Madison Square Garden today, February 14.
“Hondo is a Leonberger, a breed that was newly recognized in the AKC Working Group last year,” explains Sheila Jett-Wickman, Hondo’s proud owner.

Although his breed is a newcomer to the ring, the show itself has a very long history. According to the WKC website, the competition “persists as the second longest continuously held sporting event in this country, just one year behind the Kentucky Derby.“
On the day dedicated to love, this local dog will become a part of that history by competing in this prestigious event.

If you want to see Hondo in action, the WKC website (westminsterkennelclub.org) will be streaming "live" video all day of individual breed judging. The Rumson pooch is expected to show at 10:30 in ring one.
