New Principal Named To Rumson Fair-Haven Regional High School

RUMSON, NJ – Students at Rumson Fair-Haven Regional High School will be welcomed by a familiar face stepping into a new role this fall: Kevin Pfister, a former mathematics teacher in the Rumson-Fair Haven school district, was named principal of the high school by the district board of education last month.

After serving students in Rumson-Fair Haven, the new administrator became assistant principal/supervisor of co-curricular activities at Mountain Lakes High School in Morris County, where he then was promoted to school principal.

Pfister steps into the role as former principal Dr. Tracy Handerhan assumes a superintendent position at Wall Township School District. Handerhan served as principal of Rumson-Fair Haven High School for 13 years.

The search for a new principal included the review of dozens of applications, multi-round interviews and the input of parents, students and faculty.

“It was clear that Mr. Pfister would bring a fresh outlook to RFH,” said Superintendent Debra Gulick in a statement. “During the search and selection process, in addition to his passion for RFH, Mr. Pfister consistently demonstrated that he is a creative problem solver, a hard worker, and makes great connections with students and parents. I look forward to partnering with Mr. Pfister to continue to write RFH’s next chapter of success.” Mr. Pfister will join the RFH team early in the school year.”

Pfister has a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a bachelor's degree in mathematics. He served as an advisor and coach during his time in the Rumson-Fair Haven school district.

“It is an honor and privilege to return to Rumson and Fair Haven as the next principal at RFH. I look forward to reconnecting with the dedicated students, families, staff, administration, and community members that make the RFH school community so special,” Pfister said in a release.
