A new speed limit has been posted for Rumson Road (County Road 520), from 40 mph down to 35 mph, the Rumson Police Department and Monmouth County announced this week.
It's down to 35 mph in the Rumson borough section of Rumson Road (from Mitchill Place to the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge), which matches the speed limit on Rumson Road in Little Silver (from Mitchell Place to Branch Avenue) is 35 mph. The change was initiated by the Monmouth County Road Department.

"The speed reduction makes the speed consistent for the entire road," said Laura Kirkpatrick, a spokeswoman for Monmouth County.
